Simple ways to improve SimpleTap

ThinkPads are great little machines. They are quiet, have excellent keyboards, and a good set of software. There is always room for improvement. Regarding SimpleTap there a couple things I would change:

  1. Navigation to add new icons : Start from the Desktop Links, then Start Menu. It is a pain to ask users to navigate to folders like "Program Files" and then "Program Files(x86)";
  2. Change the background to White to save energy. Any other colour would be also be good instead of animations or video files that consume more power(10% of CPU load !);
  3. Ability to RENAME icons and maybe even change the icon itself like the ones on the desktop;
  4. Do not include Lenovo Video - it takes far too long to search the video folder to see what is available;
  5. Make sure that the default browser is launched. I have not setup IE 9 nor do I intend to use it.
  6. Like in Windows (Aero) or OSX - REMOVE ANIMATED CHANGES. An instant change takes less resources, it will make the software more responsive. It may not be as pretty or fluid as nature, but is sure will be quicker.
